If your website is "MacGyvered" together with paper clips, bubble gum and a rubberband, you need a more practical, less 1990's action adventure approach to your website.
I see it all the time, a little flash and HTML duct taped here, proprietary swiss army knife code there and more copy than mullet shots of Richard Dean Anderson.
My favorite. If CMS were an episode of the acclaimed ABC hit MacGyver, Drupal would be that scene when he makes a hot mess of the bad guys. This CMS is powerful, scalable, secure and HIGHLY customizable.
Drupal empowers you to update and maintain your own web site without relying on outside help. It also allows developers to customize your site beyond belief. Sites made in Drupal range from the WhiteHouse to Mariah Carey and The Economist.
Not as powerful or flexible as Drupal but a good alternative for sites that don't need lots of customization and for "less technical" end users. Wordpress is good for non-profits, start-ups and is fantastic for bloggers and content based sites. Wordpress is a great content management system for various types of media and has a variety of plugins, widgets and themes.
Wordpress also has a larger open source CMS presence with Wordpress.org claiming it is "used on millions of sites and seen by tens of millions of people every day."
